Horsham Police Department
The Horsham Township Police Department is a state accredited, 24-hour a day, full service police department serving Horsham, a 2nd class township located north of Philadelphia in Montgomery County, PA. Horsham has a residential population of over 25,000 and comprises approximately 17.4 square miles. A Home Rule Charter governs the township with five elected council members and a township manager overseeing operations.
The township encompasses the fomer NAS-JRB (Naval Air Station Joint Reserves Base) Willow Grove military installation. The major part of this base is now closed, but the military will continue to have a significant presence in Horsham on the former U.S. Air Force Reserve Center. The U.S. Army Reserve, Pennsylvania Air National Guard, and Pennsylvania Army National Guard units will be located on the approximately 200-acre base that is located near the intersection of County Line and Easton Roads. The name of the new installation will be "Horsham Air Guard Station".
The police department is under the direction of Chief Robert H. Ruxton. Other members of the command staff include Captain Joseph M. Repkoe, Lieutenant Jon M. Clark, and Lieutenant William J. Daly. The department has a total of 40 sworn officers and 9 civilian personnel.
The Horsham Police Dept also has a volunteer program called the Chief’s Advisory Teams (ChATs). ChATs’ objective is to not only increase awareness within the community for suspicious activity, but to unite behind a common goal of helping one another in a time of need. These dedicated individuals help make Horsham Township a great place to live, work, and visit.
